We are the European competent authorities responsible for nursing qualifications and professional standards
What we do
We are the competent authorities responsible for the recognition of nursing qualifications in the EU. We also uphold high professional standards. We contribute our expertise into EU debates in order to promote evidence-based policy making on matters of nursing education and standards.
How we work
The Network runs on an informal structure. This means that we do not have statutes or elections. Instead we focus all our efforts on substance. We meet on a regular basis and members take a rotating leadership of the group. The secretariat is charged with facilitating collaboration amongst members, advise on policy and to represent the Network.
We have existed since 2010 when we came together to input into the revision of the 2005/36/EC Directive. Since then we have been active in updating the text of the legislation and implementing new provisions; amongst other things, the European Professional Card, Alert Mechanism, Common Training Frameworks, Annexe V and more.
